Fishing Retreat and Picnic

Last Saturday, several co-workers in my department and I met up in Provo Canyon at Deer Creek.  We called it the Fishing Retreat and Picnic.  Several went up early for fishing.  Deana and I went up a little later for the picnic.
Bruce is the reason why we decided to have this activity.  We kept hearing how much he loves to go fishing so we wanted to go with him!  Sure enough, he caught two big ones and no one else had any luck.  He was so kind to send the fish home for Todd.  Todd said the fish tasted declicious!
We had a potluck picnic, played lawn games, and visited.
Carlee and her husband, Bruce and his wife, Melisa and her kids, Courteney, and Deana came.

Deana, Melisa, and I all sit next to each other and enjoy working together.  Melisa and I have worked together for three years.  I have known Deana for a year.  I sure am blessed to have great co-workers.

Waterfall Canyon

Todd's cousin, Danny, came to town for a wedding.  He stayed at our house for a night and then we headed up to the Fishers for Mother's Day weekend.  Saturday morning, the extended Krause family gathered for a hike in Waterfall Canyon.  It was a perfect day for a family hike.
Enjoying the view and having a snack.
The waterfall was huge and definitely worth the hike.

Todd and his nephew Carson---Todd was so good to help this little fellow up the trail.  He will be a good daddy soon!
After the hike, we ate lunch at the classic Burger Bar and enjoyed a delicious raspberry shake!

UVU vs BYU baseball

Todd got extra tickets for the UVU vs BYU baseball game, so we invited David, Tracy, Patrick, and Beth.  Plus, we got a hot dog meal too! We did have a split crowd, but UVU pulled through at the end.  Happy for them since they were on a big winning streak.  This night, I was happy to be sitting next to Todd watching a baseball game and Todd was getting paid working!

Wishing Jennifer good luck

We had one of my hometown friends, Jennifer, come over for dinner.  She graduated and was heading out to her job in New Jersey.  It was fun to have her out here in Utah.  She is a true friend as she helped us clean apartment when we moved out, as well as come for dinners and activities.  Good luck Jennifer!

Grandma Shurtz Funeral Weekend

All of my siblings came from Grandma Shurtz's funeral.  As they started flying in, we enjoyed seeing the sights they wanted to see.  We stopped at BYU to see the beautiful campus.
 The spring flowers were beautiful.
We ate lunch at Cafe Rio.
We stopped at Temple Square to see the lovely grounds.

We dropped by Grandma Fuller's place to surprise her a day early.
We loved hosting the family in our house! Lots of food, games, memories

When the last sibling Jon arrived, we welcomed him with a victory tunnel. It was a little piece of heaven all 9 of us together.  Grandma was thrilled to see us at her place.

The guys placed basketball in our backyard.
The ladies took me maternity clothes shopping and cheered for the guys.
Since it was Easter weekend, we had a little Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard. How fun it was to see everyone running for the eggs just like our childhood.
During the funeral, it was a special time to honor Grandma Shurtz.  Dad and Mom skyped to feel a part of the funeral.  Nearly all of Grandma's 50 grandchildren were there.

Grandma's children, Russ standing in for Dad.
A beautiful day to say our goodbyes to our dear Grandma.  We did do the honkey pokey as she requested at the luncheon, sing "I Had Such a Pretty Dream Mama", and remember the wonderful moments she shared.
