Coyote Gulch Hike

Todd and his Dad, Roger went down to Escalante area for a week of hiking.  Some of the hikes they did were Coyote Gulch, Calf Creek Falls, Zebra and Tunnel Slots, and the Box.

The Box Hike

Zebra Slot Canyon

The Tunnel Slot Canyon---Todd said that while walking through the water, since it does not see a lot of sun, the temperature was cold!

Visiting Grandma Fisher

While we were visiting family during General Conference weekend, we went to see Grandma Fisher.  She recently had knee replacement surgery and was still staying in a Rehabilitation Center.

During our visit, since Madelyn does not know how to walk yet, Roger drove her around using the wheel chair.  She loved the ride!
David had come with us for the weekend, and we were happy to keep Grandma company.
Roger did such a great ride that Maddie fell asleep in the wheelchair.

1st Tooth

Now that Maddie has her first tooth, it seems she thinks she can just put her feet up!
It's a little hard to see, but there is a tooth on the bottom gum.

Crawling...And Crawling Into Everything

Our Madelyn is crawling and pulling herself up.

She still loves the bath, whether she is in it or just admiring the tub.
One day I know I will see her actually just climb right in.

Plus, she has taken an interest in the dishwasher.  She crawls over...
pulls herself up...
and attempts to swing her leg up.

After a failed attempt, she looks back to see if I am watching her.

As of yesterday, she now loves to play in the potted plants.  Maybe she will get a green thumb from it.

Madelyn had her first play date as we watched Makalya for her mom.
It seems we already have a little girl band starting up.

Another nickname we have given Madelyn is Bobble Head.  She loves to shake her head back and forth.

Garden II

Our second year to plant a garden, we were much more knowledgeable.  We expanded the garden by three feet as well as spread the rows out so the plants have more room to grow.

This year, Madelyn contributed.  She dug up the soil and tried to eat it.  Also, she took 2 two hour naps that day while we prepped the soil and planted.  She planned those naps perfectly, or maybe she was just really bored watching us work.  The other two hours of us working, she played on a blanket and watched us.

One of Todd's many great qualities that I admire about him, is that when he does something, he does it right.  He puts in the hours and the work.  I really appreciate that about him.

I did take a few breaks to keep Maddie entertained.

Today at church, the neighbor who owns the yard across from the shorter part of the fence told me, "Your garden looks beautiful!"

Todd did a magnificent job.

Afterwards, we celebrated with pizza for dinner. We started that tradition with David last year.

Anniversary Dinner and The Riverwoods

We celebrated our anniversary  as Todd took his lovely ladies to eat dinner at La Jolla Grove.

What a beautiful place. They had fake lemon trees and lots of windows, so you felt like you were eating outside in the grove.

Then we walked along the Riverwoods and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

I think Todd and Madelyn's favorite part of the night was playing in all the fountains.

But my favorite part was definitely getting Coldstone ice cream afterwards.

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was my first to be a mother.  Therefore, this year, I understood the stories of motherhood: up all night, being thrown up on, changing countless diapers, etc.  It makes me even more grateful for my own mother, mother-in-law, and grandmothers.  They have sacrificed, worked so hard, and set wonderful examples.  Thank you!

I taught the RS lesson, then we headed up to Clinton, and it was a perfect day for a cookout.  It was fun to celebrate with my great mother-in-law, Jill, and Grandma Fisher.  Also, I was able to visit with my mom on the phone.  Todd and Maddie gave my a cute pair of capris and matching bracelets.  Later on that week, Todd took a day and cooked every week.
