July 4th

We enjoyed more of a relaxed 4th of July, but it was wonderful to spend it together as a family including Maddie Jane this year.  I think my favorite part was teaching her how to wave the American flag.

We invited a family friend and Todd's boss, DJ Smith over for a KFC lunch.  He helped us install cabinets into the laundry room as well.
We drove over and found a place in the grass by the Macey's parking facing the BYU football stadium.
There we spread out our blanket and enjoyed first other people's fireworks that they had bought while waiting for the Stadium of Fire's fireworks.
She liked looking around to see fireworks all throughout the sky.
But within five minutes of the Stadium of Fire's fireworks, she was passed out.
Happy July 4th! We are so grateful to live in this country!

Christensen Family in town

Eric, Christine, and kids were in Utah.  I volunteered to be an assistant as they went to get their family portrait taken.

Maddie was excited to meet her new cousin Carly Mae.

I enjoyed catching up with Christine, Eric, and the family and hear about their new life in LA.

Afterwards, we all enjoyed Krispy Kreme donuts.

We also got to see them as they spent the night and went to church with us.  What a wonderful time to visit!

Since it was Bryce's 10th birthday, we ended the day with a mini party of a game of Uno and cupcakes with chocolate milk.

10 Months Maddie

During the month of June, Madelyn turned 10 months old.  We love to see her blossom.  She really is learning so much! (Like how to unroll all the toilet paper! So I tried to baby proof it)

Madelyn learned to turn the page of a book.

Another thing she loves to do is spin around.  Madelyn can spin anywhere---tile or carpet.

Our Madelyn learned how to crawl up the stair but not go down them, so it was time to put up the gate.

Todd taught her how to roll her tongue.  (I am so impressed since I can't even do it)  Also, if she does not like something she will either blow or growl at it.

Music is something that makes Madelyn happy.  When she hears a song, she always gets a big smile on her face and starts dancing.  Also, she is starting to sing her own song during the hymns at church too.

We took her to Seven Peaks for the first time and she liked floating along the lazy river.

She recently started sleeping on her stomach.  On this night, we could not get her to fall asleep, finally after crawling around she just could not go anymore.

She will hold on and walk from chair to couch to leg to table to high chair.

One of Madelyn's favorite hobbies is shoes.  She will pull every shoe off the rack and play with them.  If only she would actually keep her shoes on.`

So far she has two teeth.  She is big enough to sit at the piano and play by herself.

Maddie Jane really seems to be getting taller.  Now she is just tall enough to look out the window.  Each time Todd goes outside to work, she races to the window and pulls herself up to look out.  It is so cute to see him wave to her each time he comes by with the lawn mover.

Todd taught her how to blow into a Kazoo.  She continues to love to play all the other instruments as well.
